St Patrick’s Day

1. According to tradition, Patrick returned to Ireland to convert the pagan Irish to Christianity. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Gaelic Ireland. After making his way home, Patrick went on to become a priest. Tradition holds that he died on 17 March and was buried at Downpatrick. Over the following centuries, many legends grew up around Patrick and he became Ireland's foremost saint.
2. The Origins of St. Patrick's Day. St. Patrick's Day celebrates the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland.
3. He date commemorates the day St. Patrick died, believed to be in A.D. 461.
4. There isn't really one reason why this is the official color of St. Patrick's Day, but the color green has a lot of connections to Ireland and springtime

5. Saint Patrick’s Day is a huge deal in his old stomping grounds. It’s a national holiday in both Ireland and Northern Ireland.
